Hello and welcome
I have been exploring and creating for over 30 years but more recently have been focusing on my passion for painting with elements of mixed media.
I’m a Bristol-based artist working with acrylic paint and handmade collage to explore memory, identity, and the passage of time. My work moves between expressive portraiture and abstract boat-inspired compositions, inviting viewers to slow down, reflect, and find their own meaning within each piece.
My portraits blend realism with abstraction, emerging from rich, layered surfaces that speak of inner thoughts and emotions. Alongside this, my abstract boat paintings are rooted in childhood memories of growing up by the river Fowey in Cornwall and time spent in my father’s boat workshop—where sanding, painting and restoring wooden boats first shaped my relationship with material and surface.
Through intuitive mark-making and textured layers, I embrace contrasts of strength and vulnerability, repair and decay, stillness and movement.
